So do you all just use 330's or what? I use the 330's,some snares,double longspring #4's occasionaly.Also the #14's and have used some #4 jumps,thos I have been told by a few not to.I guess they had troble keepin them in the trap...? Caught more than one in the double under 4's and 44's type traps as well...just always takin opinions into account so fire away!and thanks!   L.H.

L.H.--I learned to trap beaver with footholds,I have use #3 coils,and also the 4 and 14 jumps,and the newer 7 1/2 inch coils.While I did very well with footholds,it has been several years since I set one for beaver.
 I have gone to 330s exclusively. Now some will tell you that you must also use snares and footholds to be effective.To This I say-"-Baloney".
 If a person uses one tool for everything,they come up with ways that others never think of to make sure it produces.
 I have worked for many years perfecting my methods.I find 330s are just faster and easier for me.Now I am not trying to put down the footholds or snares--it is just that the 330 is my choice for beaver and otter.      Tom

No doubt about it if you want to really pile up the numbers of beaver the 330 is impossible to beat.  But I also like footholds in the spring seems like less fur damage when the fur is starting to break down.  Also good for those conibear shy beaver.  I also like to snare under ice when the ice is thick.

I use mostly #330's, but several areas I trap are open banks and the MB 750s have helped make a set faster without having to funnel them down etc.  Just make a slide with my boot and make a castor mound, then set the MB 750 in the water and your done.  I have all my 750 rigged on a slide rod.
