AK-47 Drum Magazine
« on: February 06, 2011, 11:40:57 AM »
So my oldest son calls me up and asked me to find out who makes the best drum magazine for his AK.
Anyone have an opinion?

Thanks,
Tom

I have one and it works very well, but I can't remember who makes it.  I'll check later and let you know.

These work, and are inexpensive.

I have a Romanian - these are the ones that take one round at a time for feeding, with a twitch of the loading lever.  It works very well - I paid $105 about 8 years ago - they went up to around $140, and have now come down to around $95 - 100.
The other type that I have seen, but never used, and have some feedback from customers is the Chinese type (as posted by Savage re: cdnn) - these are the type with the front opening panel that you load then wind up.  They are supposed to be excellent, in general with a stinker thrown in now and then.  The CDNN price of $70 is very attractive - if they work as intended.

I thought I remembered buying a 75 rd drum magazine, way back when.
Dug around a little, and dang, I found it.
It has never been used, and it has a small decal on the back, "made in china".

I checked on mine and I couldn't find a mark indicating manufacturer or country of origin.  It is the wind-up type and has been very reliable.
