20 Gauge Tamer
« on: February 22, 2011, 05:12:27 PM »
I've said before that I'm not much of a gun guy but I give it a try.

I appreciate the patience of those with vastly more knowledge than I have or will have.

I ordered a 20 gauge Tamer today.

Will the Choate conventional stock and conventional forend fit?

If so, I'll have the original equipment pieces as leftovers but I guess that's the way it goes.

I was going to order an SB1-020 but my local Walmart said they were not in stock.  I had pre-ordered a Schnabel blank from Numrich for it that will now gather dust.

Gun education is just like any other-----ya gotta pay tuition.

Such is life.

The regular stock and forearm will bolt right on with no problems. You could always sell the Tamer set here on the site instead of having it collect dust. ;)

For sure! If you havent viewed the H&R Classifieds here check them out, you will see that your 'extras' dont have to stay with you unless thats where you want them.
When you get done, though, (and 'done' is very relative here) you are likely to have 'more than one'.

Well I had never sold anything or bought anything online either and then I got into Handi's. I bought a laminate stock set for a 7-08 and then after I put it all together I decided I wanted a ruger pistol and needed to sell something. I parted out the gun and sold the laminates and the original pallet wood stocks. I actually made money off the deal.

GBO has a good buy/sell system and as far as I know almost all the folks make good on deals.

+1 to that. I've made almost 50 deals here on GBO and never had a bad transaction with anyone. It's just another reason GBO is the best site on the net. ;)

Many thanks to all for the info and encouragement.

I'll post again when I have the Tamer put together.

I appreciate what you guys have made available.

I thought I'd add this.  Advise if this should be somewhere else.   I also have a Pardner 20 gauge.  A long time ago I saw somewhere -----and used-----an idea on adding weight to the stock.  Nickels.  They fit perfectly.  Cheap.  Add a cotton ball or 2 and re-attach the butt plate.

Spanky, Daman and gcrank1, thanks.
