Iv'e heard alot of good things about the Chamber's round face lock. Has anyone here built a gun from a Chamber's kit?

I've never built a Chamber's kit, but I've got two of his round faced locks and they are first rate. I've got two or three of his  Siler locks, too and they are great sparkers as well. He's a real gentleman to deal wth. Hope this is of help.

I'm one of those who raves about his J.C. roundface lock.

Never built a Chamber's kit though.  I know people who have an they speak of the kits like I do my lock.

The main reason I didn't go the rout of a J.C. kit was $$$.    What I paid for an in-the-white gun from Tennessee Valley Mftg, is about what a J.C. kit costs.

There's some folks who would say why not just get the J.C. kit and spend a few hundred bucks to have someone finish it up?  Well, the reason is I started out with a $400 budget in mind and already spent more than double that by the time I called it quits on the "why not just spend a little more..."

I did the kit and had problems with it ( my fault not his I think but not sure some parts did not mate up right ) so I sent it to him and he fixed it with some grumbleing but he did take care of it for me. I would say get a finished lock they do not cost that much more and you know it will be done right and if you do have problems he will be more likely to fix it with out the sermon I got from him.  :) Needless to say he does make quality stuff I would go with the finished one though after what I expirienced. Are you saying you built a lock from a lock kit?
That does sound difficult.

Yea that is what I am saying it sounds easy until you try it. For those that have never done it before I would suggest buying the completed lock for a little more money.  There is more than just putting the parts together there is quite a bit of fitting involved also. Jim
