2012 will indeed be key to what this country will come to.  We began the process of change in the 2010 Congressional elections; 2012 will tell the story of where we are bound.  2012 is also a Presidential year, so it's all in the hands of the voters.  I'd like to think we (the voters) will do the right thing.   But--we're probably screwed.

Amen to that. Americans have more and appreciate it less than any nation on earth. We waste more food and everything else than many nations have. POWDERMAN.  :o :o :o :o :o :o

I don't think the Constitutional Republic has 10 years left; its on life support, and the medical advisory board is meeting to decide on when to pull the plug. The kids are already fighting over the estate, and are probably going to lose alot of it since they ran up some hefty bills which are bound to come due.

We've had the longest stretch of any of our peers, many of whom have changed forms of government numerous times just in the last 100 years, and we've got over 235. I don't think TPTB have the oomph to force a full-on social democracy yet, so if a flash point occurs, it will divide the nation along ideological lines - there are already 2 distinct versions of America operating within our borders. All we need is a reason. TPTB are hoping to wear down the opposition over time in order to keep it intact, but constantly walk a fine line and at any moment could trigger the division. Its ironic since the founders pushed for a republic specifically to allow folks of different ideologies to coexist, but human nature isn't happy until we can force our neighbors tp conform.

It probably won't be near as bad as the doomsdayers are hoping, but its gonna be a whole lot worse than most folks are thinking. If its not already shaping your decision making, it ought to. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

I hope its still here because i've never had it so good. That goes for most people as well. Cell phones-computers-nice cars-vacations-central heat and air-cable tv and internet-all the food you can eat-4 wheelers -boats- cabins-investments- the list is endless. Point being you can piss and moan all you want but we have it made here. Yes we need better leaders but we the people voted these in and we can vote them out. CHEER UP. ED K

Well put, Powderman and Slim Rem.  ;)

I was called to Christ in the 4th grade and have attempted to mold my life to what I devoted too since. If the world goes, then it goes. I have been prepared a place.  :)

I don't believe or agree everything that Beck says, however in a recent talk with Bill O' he thought that the USA should become a big Switzerland. Don't get mixed up with other countries business, stay neutral, bring your troops home etc. I agree with him on that. I don't know if it will solve everything, I see it as a good start to get better.

BTW. Has the State Dept. got at least one(1) thing right in the last 50+ years, especially in the ME?? IMO  Nope, not a one. :(

scatterbrain, funny you should bring that up. Yesterday I participated in a "discussion" that involved a former Ambassador, and current Professor at Georgetown, Dr. Thomas Farr, along with one of the key advisors at the Marine Corps University. Dr. Farr asserts that our foreign policy has failed, and will continue to fail because of how we do not discuss matters of religion - he calls that the missing piece of our understanding about the rest of the world. He asserts that its in part the product of the PC movement, but its ultimately to our detriment that we are attempting to engage the world without using language that includes religion. Not to make religion the point of issue, but simply to acknowledge its role in all societies. He criticized Obama's failures to calculate that factor in our world politics, sighting his failure to appoint an Ambassdor at large to matters of religious freedom, a position created by Congress in the 90's primarliy to help us in the ME. He also noted that in Kissniger's Magnum Opus "Diplomacy", religion does not appear. We will always fail in the ME until we grow up enough to have rational respectful human discourse around religion, which our founders seemed to be capable of.

I dunno, sometimes I think isolationism might be healthy, but only for 1 of the 2 ideological countries in the USofA. The other won't give it up.

You can not tell how great a Country is by the industy of its people, but only through the peoples sincere worship of the God of Abraham, Issac and Jacob.

In 2012 California will sink into the ocean and those people owning property on the AZ. border will become extremely wealthy now that they own shore front property. This is according to the Aztec calender and Lex Luther.

LOL! I don't think Beck's formula is original. If memory serves me the founders had that advice to give to their countrymen. Pat Buchanan has been preaching it for years, and all it did was distance him from the Republican party. They branded him an Isolationist. I never believed he was. He just believes in borders and minding our own business.

I hope Beck is sincere, but being the entertainer he is, I think it's all about his bank account and Fox ratings. Some of the things he espouses lately, have been pointed out by Ron Paul for some time, and Beck was quick to try and paint him as a kook during his run for the Presidency.

Beck is in it for Beck! He, like Lou Dobbs will change horses in a heart beat, if he see's greener (DOLLAR GREEN)pastures on the other side.

NO.  Watch what is going on in the ME right now.  Think on this:  many countries throughout history have used war to end economic depression.  America's economic health has greatly benefitted from each major war we have engaged in.  With extended UE checks we have created an entire other class of welfare program that will haunt us for years and years, unless something severe is done about it.

I'm 43 now.  I don't reckon I'll live to retirement age unless things change radically.
