I don't think the Constitutional Republic has 10 years left; its on life support, and the medical advisory board is meeting to decide on when to pull the plug. The kids are already fighting over the estate, and are probably going to lose alot of it since they ran up some hefty bills which are bound to come due.
We've had the longest stretch of any of our peers, many of whom have changed forms of government numerous times just in the last 100 years, and we've got over 235. I don't think TPTB have the oomph to force a full-on social democracy yet, so if a flash point occurs, it will divide the nation along ideological lines - there are already 2 distinct versions of America operating within our borders. All we need is a reason. TPTB are hoping to wear down the opposition over time in order to keep it intact, but constantly walk a fine line and at any moment could trigger the division. Its ironic since the founders pushed for a republic specifically to allow folks of different ideologies to coexist, but human nature isn't happy until we can force our neighbors tp conform.
It probably won't be near as bad as the doomsdayers are hoping, but its gonna be a whole lot worse than most folks are thinking. If its not already shaping your decision making, it ought to. It's going to be a bumpy ride.
