Gunsmith in the House?
« on: February 06, 2011, 04:20:02 PM »
Over the years I've read various articles regarding tightening / tweaking the action.  For some of us lazy types, is there someone I can send it to that "knows" what they're doing?  My BC, 45-70 ain't broken, just want to get the most out of it for long range hunting.  Thanks!

I am sure there are several here that could do it.
If they would do it for someone else on their gun is another question.
Working on your own gun and doing it for another person is two different things.
Maybe someone will step up and offer their expertise.
Just be patient.

Site sponsor Wayne York of Oregunsmithing told me he would fit barrels for $50. I can't imagine it's much more involved than that.

Thanks, Dinny

The legal issues of sending a firearm to someone else to work on aren't all that simple, that's why gunsmiths have FFLs and must log a firearm they work on into their records. Best to have it done locally or ship it to a licensed gunsmith like Wayne York. But the FAQs are chock full of DIY tips that anyone can do. Everyone's first option if the barrel is loose on the frame with the action closed and the forend removed, is to send it to H&R for repair if it's a factory fitted barrel, they can also do a trigger job on it, lots of info on that in the FAQs too.
