advice needed

i have the time warner package of internet,telephone and cable..recently the bill went from 95 bucks to 162 bucks a month..
 i can get cell service through my daughters service for 15 bucks ..the dish net is still on top of the house from when we had thier service ,,before karry passed [i had to cut cost anyway i could]
 not sure about internet ,but 5 minutes away is my daughters home ,where i can use the internet ..
 i really don t use it much anymore anyway..
 im slow to make impulsive changes but am thinking about a change..

Slim, I can sympathize with you about the cost of all this crap, but my wife just recently changed us over to Comcast's Xfinity where we get cable TV, high speed Internet and telephone for cheaper ($99 per month) than what we were paying for dial up Internet, Quest phone and Comcast cable TV.  The bundle price is guaranteed for two years.  We also got the installation for free.  With this plan, we get unlimited long distance calling in the USA 24/7.  The Internet speed is lightning fast.  And we get all the TV channels we had before, plus a few more.

SLIM. We don't have cable, can't afford it. We were paying $42 a month for dialup and phone. We went to dsl, got call waiting, and 1000 min of long distance for another $10 a month, bill now is $52 a month, can't beat it. This is all through our local phone co.  Our cell is used infrequently. Before the switch we were buying cell minutes every month, not anymore. I think we use net 10. POWDERMAN.

Becareful with comcast,  they have been trying to put bandwidth limits on there customers.  Its usually pretty decent and as far as just surfing gbo you should be alright, but if you do a lot of downloading, or stuff on youtube you can burn that pretty quick.  If you can get it dsl should be the cheapest, with cable the next.  If you have a cellphone just get rid of your home phone completely and use the cell for phone called, and then get some cheap internet somewhere.  Also check with your cell provider, sometimes they offer wireless internet in some areas, verison is big with it around here and its pretty good,  but usually you have to have line of site to there towers.

sorry for being so slow to respond..advice was much appreciated.. negotiated with time warner ..got it dn to 136 .00 a month ..i paid it this month .. that will give me time to look around for my best options..my daughter has put me on her cell phone system,verizon i think it is..15 a month..

 now to find the cheapest internet and satelite t.v.service ,i guess..
 ps yall pray for this old man, who as yet has not learned how to be alone , old an semi disabled..
 i fight self pity,, much as i can and be thankful im not hungry or cold an such..but what is,,, is..
 ive yet to figure out,, how to make life interesting again..when things got tough in the past ,i just worked harder , more hours and days were full .. but thats not an option thats open to me now..so thanks again,

hell yeah, slim.   get the cell phone and dont look back.   i havent had a land line in over 5 years and i WORK for the phone company!   you have to do what you have to do to cut costs, and sometimes that means doing things differently than they have traditionally been done.   
  just make sure you check in with us occasionally.   fyi, alot of coffee shops have free internet and some even have computers set up for folks to use.   i have my modem set up so anyone within range can use my connection for free.   a little research and you might be able to find a "bubble" very close to your home; maybe even in it if a neighbor lives close enough.   get a wireless card for 15 bucks, or a laptop (maybe that is what you have now) and you are good to go.

Slim, I got no advise to give on cable and such but about the other I can only point to your many posts in which you told us all the answer. Knee mail, lots and lots of knee mail. When you can go no farther HE will carry you.

 Our bill recently took a big jump like yours did. We are shutting our cable down. We got a new TV that was "internet capable" last year. Didnt really know what that meant at the time but now I see we can hook a computer to the TV and watch whatever we want on line for free...Well I guess its not really free we still have to pay for internet but that is a heck of a lot cheaper than cable.
