Sorry for the dumb question, just thinking out loud again????
« on: February 11, 2011, 04:29:13 PM »
I'm not sure if i asked this before the hot chocolate is getting to me maybe? Can a cylinder be rechambered for the russian nagant 7,62 revolver to shoot the 7,62x25 tokarev round out of the nagant revolver?  (cheaper ammo?)

The yugo 7,62x25 tok ammo is around $80 for 1260rd can on sale at times.   I'm not too sure about it yet, is it possible?   CZY

Wouldn't suggest doing so.  The x25 ammo is a lot hotter than the x38R stuff - I don't have the psi ratings right here in front of me - but I'd bet the Nagant is around 25K psi while the x25 is most likely in the 30K psi range ????  Anyway - bottleneck cartridges have had a bad history when attempted to be used in revolvers - bullet pull being one, probably the most, problem, with notable exceptions for "mildly" necked cartridges.

I have heard of at least one person making conversion cylinders for the Tokarev round, but I have to agree with 32 Mag - I wouldn't want something that hot in a Nagant.  Just to make sure that I can always get ammo for mine, I went ahead and got a .32ACP cylinder from Century for mine.  At the time with a dealer discount (which I had via my C&R) you could get 2 for $70 - one was $50 IIRC.  The normal price for non-discount is $70 for just one.

I ended up paying the $70 for two, then selling the second one on Gunbroker where it pulled $50, so my own cylinder was really only $20.  :D
