New BC 45/70
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:55:02 AM »
I was shopping at my local gunshop this morning and got to talking about Handi's. We were talking about rifle's in general when my friend told me he had a BC he had ordered for someone and they changed their mind after it had came in. He said he would make me a deal if I took it. After the deal was made $349.00 I told him I was thinking of reaming it to a 45/120. His face looked funny and he told me he had ordered a set of 45/120 dies by mistake several years ago and they were in the back. Brand new rcbs  dies for 40.00. I feel lucky today.

Way to go!

You both were lucky today!

Your friend lightened his inventory, and you got a new rifle to play with! ;D
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

10 Ring,

Congrats, good deal on a great gun!  4D Reamer rentals is your friend. ;D  I reamed my BC to 45-120 last summer and it was no big deal.   I am heading to the range on Monday with a new chrony to see what the "Elephant Gun" (wife named it, not me)  will do.  I enjoy having people ask me what I am shooting.  I tell them "45-120", show them a loaded round and ask them if they want to shoot it.  Only had two takers and only one of them shot it more than once! :o
