Before spending the money on something you are unsure you will like,  go to an indoor range that rents handguns and try before you buy. 8)

Before you buy decide where , when and how you will use it . Unless you know when and where an attack will occure then you will tote anywhere and everywhere legal. Consider it a lifestyle change .
Some say hi-cap is needed , better to hit target with first shot . Can't miss fast enough to win . The hi-cap crowd always ask what if there is more than 5 , well while you are shooting at 5 do you think you are so fast one of them can't shoot you ? Better to seek cover if aval.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Hello guys, Thanks for all the comments but its time to put this out of control question to rest. I wound up finding a good deal on a Springfield xdm  .40 cal. I bought it off a local who still had the case and all the goodies that came with it. He said he had only fired 1 clip through it and it still looked brand new to me. I got it for $375 so im happy. Im thinking about using the money I saved for a crimson trace.

i  love  my crimson trace............as a training tool

USELESS  FOR ACTUAL  USAGE

i turn it  on  and practice dry fire.....watch  that dot  stop wiggleing  after a few  thousand

i  also  draw  and pull the switch,,,instead of the trigger
a few  hundred  of those a month....and you can  point shoot  VERY good

i  have actually  fired  about 50 live rounds  using  the lazer......it  works
but  if  i need it....i dont want to go looking for the  dot
that lazer  has  taught  me to just  point  and shoot.....in  ANY light
in fact.......i think  i can  hit you in a room  with  my eyes closed  if i can hear  you
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs
DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO STOP A DEMOCRAT
OBAMACARE....the biggest tax hike in the  history of mankind
free choice and equality  can't co-exist
AFTER THE LIBYAN COVER-UP... remind any  democrat voters ''they sat and  watched them die''...they  told help to ''stand down''

Nothing wrong with the Springfield XD's.. I have an XD 45 ACP.  Shoots great and the function is great..

My ugly, 'square', pedestrian, EDC, Glock Model 21 hasn't so much as hiccuped on me in the last 8,000 rounds.  Pull the trigger and you're going to get the, 'Bang!'

Just how good a self-defense pistol do I need to carry in order to handle some pissed off ex-convict?  What we're really considering here is ATTITUDE and regular PRACTICE.  I am going to agree that because it's a higher pressure round, 9mm does require more concentration and grip control to shoot well.

Wal-Mart's crap, 'range ammo' does, indeed, cost another 4 or 5 dollars per 50 rounds over 9mm; but, as far as I'm concerned, it's money well spent.  If you do a lot of shooting find someone to reload for you.
