RollingB,

I keep talking about selling it, but never do.  Durned thing has my left arm tattooed with black powder whenever I forget to wear a long sleeve shirt.  But what would I do if it were gone?  I'd be lamenting just as I do for every one of the guns I have had and sold over the years!  Besides, you don't want it.  The stock cracked at the wrist so I epoxied it and wrapped it with copper wire held in place with upholstery tacks, the barrel had a bad spot in it so I chopped it 6" shorter, the forearm is new 'cause the old one split down the middle.  No, you really don't want it.

Black Jaque,

Are you saying that every time your flint makes sparks, it's a miracle?  If the lock is that bad, I would get a replacement.  Try L&R Locks, or see what Track of the Wolf or Dixie have.  I know that my GPR has no problems with discharging, as long as I do my part...

Sorry I didn't reply earlier.  I've been hunting.  I hunt with the 10 ML II.  I double sabot a 28 ga cut off wad and mount 3 felt wads then a 300 gr Hornady .45 grain HP.  I push it with 4X grains ( read this as a max load) of IMR 4227.
I killed my Hoosier buck this year at 25 feet with a .357 Max contender.  I've carried the Savage a long way this year but haven't fired it.

Kees,

Yeah.  "Hey, it went off?!  It must be a miracle!!!" :)  :)  :)

Not quite.

I'm just still amazed with flintlocks.  Just describe to yourself the process that a flintlock goes through to ignite.  It sounds like a Rube Goldburg "Better Mouse Trap" cartoon.  You would think that it would take a miracle to get the thing to go off.

The fact that it doesn't take a miracle - is a miracle?!!?! :?
