GRT-lll Trigger?
« on: March 25, 2011, 05:43:05 PM »
OK I'm pretty new to air guns but not shooting and understand that there is a certain way you have to hold an air rifle and especially a springer to get them to shoot well, and I already own a couple of low end springers.

Now I haven't invested a lot of money in my two plinkers, and I have chosen to go the low end route since I really can't justify spending  as much on an air rifle as I would for a centerfire rifle, especially since I don't shoot them all that much as compared to others, and I'm afraid to spend as much on one as a regular centerfire rifle and be disappointed.

That said, the low end rifles shoot well but have terrible triggers, and I've found the website on the GRT-lll trigger and I'm thinking about getting one, and I'm wondering if the reviews I've read or real or just hype, and if anyone on the forum uses them and has experience with the trigger enough to say it's worth the investment.
My culled down Handi's are the 45-70, and then I have a few others to keep it company...357 Mag/Max. .45 LC/.454 Casull Carbine, .243 Ultra, and 20 gauge Tracker II.

never tried oneof those, just looked at the website.  $32.00 for a new trigger for a low end rifle?  Depends on what you are calling low end, and what you expect to happen.  For my money I would rather have an adjustable factor trigger (even on my old Savage 110) than to try to fit an aftermarket trigger to a less costly rifle.  My reasoning is a matter of liability and warranty.  (Personal choice)  I have been able to set the trigger on my Beeman to a crisp and consistant release, and yes it is two stage.  When I purchased mine I had the choice of their RS-1 or RS-2 triggers.  The price difference was $20.00, and I didn't have to mess with it much to get it like I wanted it.

That said, what rifle do you have? What do you expect the trigger to do?  Typically a trigger job or upgrade is really not needed until you are shooting better than your rifle ;) meaning you can shoot better with a borrowed or better rifle, even then the problem can be traced to the stock more often than the trigger.  Just an opinion, worth what you paid for it.  The trigger looks promising though.

I've added the triggers to, two Crosman Phantoms and a Tech Force 58.  The trigger is worth every penny if you take your shooting seriously.
