Rossi M92 sights
« on: April 19, 2011, 08:45:19 AM »
Ok, I bought a 44 mag M92 with a 20" barrel in blue finish thanks to the good reviews on the M92 here by DPE.ahoy, Dee, Atlaw and others. It is NIB and is a quite nice looking gun with good fit and finish on the wood and a nice blue job on the metal surfaces. My question is for those of you who own this rifle (in any caliber) what sights do you use? Factory, Williams, Skinner, ETC, ETC. Thanks for your input then and now. Charlie

I put a Marble's tang sight on mine.  The rifle is already drilled and tapped for one and Marble's includes the screws!  That's about the only way my old eyes will allow me to shoot a scopeless rifle!   :'(

I put a Marbles tnag on my M92 .357 also. I had to drill and tap the second hole on the tang but it was very easy.
Hi NSA! Can you see how many fingers I am holding up?

Since all the ones I've bought had bolt top lawyer safeties, I replaced the safety shafts with plugs, and D/T'd the plugs for a Skinner LoPro peep sight - which allows an EZ zeroing using the issue height front sight blade.

Of course, for M92's w/o the bolt top safety, the top of the bolt's rear section can be D/T'd just as easily.

Went with the Marble's tang on mine too, click adjustable is nice and my Rossi already had the hole tapped for it.

One of mine wears the Skinner that fits the safety hole, one wears the Williams peep on the receiver and the 454 Trapper came with Williams FireSights that are quite useable.  Also have a Scout scope on the one with the Skinner, can use either set.  Friend of mine is really trying to talk me out of that one, the scout set up will stay and get put on a different rifle if he keeps talkin.  DP

I bought my Rossi trapper for a truck gun.  The first thing I did was replace the cheap sights with a Marbles front bead front and semibuckhorn (longer version) rear.  At some point the rear sight may get replaced by a Williams foolproof.

We sell a LOT of these barrel mounted aperture sights.  http://www.skinnersights.com/barrel_mount_6.html  They work with the factory front and are simple, rugged, and easy to adjust.

I just built a sight for the current Rossi/Taurus/Braztech 92's that have tapped holes for sight mounting on the barrel.  It looks like our "EXPRESS" sight and fits on the barrel just forward of the receiver.

The test sight is mounted on a Rossi 16" Stainless Trapper in .44 Mag.

Sight picture is "Golden"...  :)
