They generally have a screw on both sides of the attachment point for the base.  By loosening one side and tightening the other, you can adjust for windage.  I've used Millett for this purpose.

I have to second doug on the millet rings, they work well in weaver bases  if the base is misaligned but you need to lap them to get the best alignment and least stress on the scope tube. the instructions with the rings will give a clearer understanding than I can provide.
note, I use weaver bases w/millet rings on rifles where there is not an option for a redfield/leupold dovetail mount.
I prefer the redfield style with the rear windage adjustment. but they are not available for some actions.

I suggest you rethink that plan. They have ruined and scarred up more scopes than all other rings combined. You put the scope in a serious bind if you use them other than in the dead center position and that's not good for scopes. Not to mention the loss of resale value on scopes defaced by them.

If you feel you need the adjustment then buy Burris Signature rings instead and get some offset inserts. I will NEVR EVER again use windage adjustable rings unless that is the ONLY kinda base I can buy for that gun. So far the only one I've found that applies to is the Browning Low Wall and I regretfully sold both of mine.

i use the millet rings and love them.    if you use the mounts to center the scope to the gun
i do not tighten the scope mount until i have the scope straight to the bore.  my thinking is that it is best to have the scope parallel to the bore before adjusting the scope its self  thats just my .02

The only way to safely mount windage adjustable rings is with with an alignment tool, and then they still need to be lapped, neither is required for Burris Signature rings.

The Burris Signature offset rings are outstanding, IMHO.  Basically, you align your scope with the offset inserts, then fine tune the alignment with the scope adjustments.  It works and works well.

My experience was with one gun,,,a ruger 77/17 and I sold it so I don't have lots of experience with this.  I used the milletts and they worked fine, but, I think GB et al have given you a much better solution.

If you already have the windage adjustable bases, Burris makes Signature rings that fit them.  No problem with binding up the scope that way.  The bushings in the rings allow the scope to pivot without binding.
