Antler Hunting
« on: February 06, 2011, 05:55:03 PM »
Years ago I was trying to make my younger cousin into a fine woodsman, the same kind I considered myself to be.  He wanted to go horn huntin aweful bad so I agreed to take him out. I figured if he found one, it would be easy going after that.  The day I took him out I stashed a squirrel chewed 5 point deer antler in my pack, after we got into the area we wanted to start looking for shed antlers, I slipped away and placed my antler under a little fir tree on the side of a well used game trail.  I met back up with my cousin and told him I found a likely looking area for the deer to drop.  I got my cousin to walk within 5 feet of that little fir tree at least 3 or 4 times, finally after what seemed like an eternity he looked down and saw the deer antler.  He picked it up and said, " Geez, you must have walked past this horn at least half a dozen times, your not very good at this horn huntin are you?"  I was so mad I just wanted to leave him up there on that mountain.

Don't you hate it when a good idea backfires?  You shoulda left the little cuss up there for being a wise-acre.

Should have written "smile, your on candied camera" on it and told him how many times he walked by it. ear
