Cabin fever
« on: February 09, 2011, 01:55:26 AM »
This has to be the absolute worst time of year. All the rifles from Hunting season have all had a thorough cleaning and are back in the safe; I bought two new Nikon scopes, mounted one on the 22-250 and one on the 270. And moved a couple to other rifles. Too cold and too much snow to get to my range.
Cleaned and reorganized the reloading bench, have all my brass cleaned and sorted. Restocked components.
Reloaded some test loads for a couple rifles, with some of the new components. Have more than enough handgun ammo loaded up.
Picked up a new bullet mold, back up to seven bullet molds, all are setting idol with the pot in the cabbinet. Run out of room for Wheel weights, 50/50 and Lyno. Just to cold to set in front of the Garage and mix alloys.
I think I am going through shooter withdrawal.

I'm with you ! This is the absolute worst time of year. I get cabin fever really bad at this time. Really hate being cooped up in the house, not much of a TV watcher except for fox news and hunting shows. Mostly on the web looking at forums like this or looking for something new to shoot or reload. Have got some shooting time in when the weather isn't real bad. Ordered parts to build a new ar-15. At least something to look forward too. Anybody with suggestions for the wintertime blues???

This has to be the worst year of Cabin Fever  for me, a couple of new (to me) rifles all scoped up and bore sighted, can't even work up loads fo em, still loading for my revolvers, but even thats getting boring without being able to shoot any, I wish we had an indoor range in the Hazleton area, we just make do with makeshift ranges in the strippings, but you can't get out there in weather like this. Years Ago I could just shoot out the back door, nothing behind me but a big stripping bank, that was when all my neighbors were elderly, like I am now LOL, but the new neighbors are kind of anal about it, scares their pugs and cocapoos, oh well done ranting but still waiting..........................................steg

It looks like I may make it after all, we had some decent days, got all the range lead from the bullet trap melted down into ingots, the scrounged lead and alloys mixed and poured into ingots, I just need to mark them as what’s what. I was able to shoot off 3 boxes of 45ACP. I still can’t get the truck back to the Rifle range. But at least now there seems to be light at the end of the tunnel.

What is 'cabin fever"?  There is ice fishing, snowshoeing to look for where the deer are for next season, cross country skiing, and yote hunting.  Just get out there and do it.
