Absolutely NO!  Why would I even think about swapping one of my Winnies (or Marlins for that matter) for some brassy looking thing like a Henry.  I like blued steel and walnut, with maybe a little wear on the finish from use and cleaning.  I'm not partial to guns that look like they belong in a corner in a whorehouse. Just my conservative opinion.  We know what Patton said about pearl-handled revolvers.  I wonder what he'd say about brassy-looking leverguns (excepting original Winnie 86's of course).

Why trade your Winchester? Keep it and buy the Henry also. They are both cool firearms. You can never have enough lever action rifles. God Bless ::)

I almost bought a used Winchester 30-30 back in the late 80's for $75 but you had to squeeze the lever really hard to get it to fire. No (censored word) way would I buy a Winchester. I went out and bought a new Marlin 1894S in .44 Magnum insted. So YES I would trade just so that Winchester didn't end up in the trash. My next toy is going to be a Henry H001TM.

Not to offend anyone but there is a lot of misinformation on this thread. The Henry “Big Boys” are a solid brass alloy receiver and their quality of finish and manufacture is better than any “standard” Winchester 94 that I have seen over the last thirty years. I speak from owning two Henry’s and lot of different Winchesters.

The answer in my opinion depends on the year of manufacture and the type of the 94 we are talking about. I have a Winchester 94 Classic made in 1967 with an octagon barrel and very fancy wood. I would say no.

If we are talking about a standard Winchester 94 like the one I own made in 1970, maybe my 30-30 but not my 44 mag.

If we are talking about the loose fitting Winchester 94s of recent manufacture with the odd safeties that rattle like crazy and are no longer produced. Yes, absolutely!

Gun Tests tested the 44 mag Big Boy and a new USRA Winchester 94 in 44 mag a few years back and it was no contest. They loved the Big Boy and the USRA Winchester 94 in 44 mag actually failed their test!

rhernandez914 makes some excellent points!!!  My Win '94 is 1973 vintage and while better than some of those from a few years prior, it's not the gun that 94's were in, say, the 1950's when I first coveted them.  Would I trade, even-up, today?  If someone came to me wanting to trade, I'd give it consideration.  But since I seldom shoot a .30-30 any more, I'm not about to go looking for a trade.

I have a Henry in 357 and Winchester 94 30-30 (1949)  If the Henry 30-30 is as good as the 357 I would trade fast.

   If your Winchester was made between say 1964 and around 1985, then yea, I would consider it.

   Otherwise, unless your Winchester is totally beat to heck, or defective or cosmetically ruined, no way Ray.

If you ever get a Henry 22,357,44, 45lc or 30-30.  Your wife will be sleeping on the floor because your will have to have the Henry right next to you.  They are great guns and shot great out of the box.  I would trade any Winchester or Marlin for one even the pre 64 guns.

I like the look of the Henry 30-30 (not the brass version) and its receiver sight.  But, I do not like the tube fed magazine.  I like having the side port.  I had a .30-30 that I traded off but if I had one, I might sell it for a Marlin lever action.  In fact, I have one on order after looking at the Henry which is a nice gun but the Marlin has a longer headstart (and a side loading port).

Have a Marlin 336C, and a Winchester 94, both in 30-30.
Like the Marlin better than the Winchester, but like the Winchester better than the Henry, so the answer is a big NO!
