.17 HMR ammo selection and prices
« on: January 08, 2004, 10:37:29 AM »
We now have Hornady, Remington, CCI, and Federal to choose from. I have not found anything in my area except Hornady and CCI to try. Mostly CCI. Fifty rounds at WallyWorld are going for $9.70+ tax. I would really like to try the other brands to see how they shoot in my gun but, I can only find these two brands.
Can you find all the brands in your area and what is the average price per box?.

Most stores I see them in are still trying to get about $11 a box. I have been finding the Hornadys at the gun shows for $8. armsandammo.com has it for $8.45 plus shipping. You might try some of the other internet sourses also. KN

Thanks KN. What I would like to do is try all the different brands before I buy in bulk online. Not having much luck.

Haven't seen or heard of a Hummer yet that doesn't like the Hornaday V-Max.   Easy starting place to buy a brick of to get shooting.   FWIW - Ladobe

Here in eastern Wisconsin the going price seems to be $9.95.  Available brands are CCI, Remington and Hornady.  One of the large sports retailers has Hornady and CCI bricks for $79.  I don't have mine worked out yet,  but when I do I will get a brick and save the $.

You can also find 17 hmr at Dick's sporting goods for around $8.00 but mid south shooters supply in TN. is the cheapest i have seen.
