berretta neos
« on: March 03, 2012, 03:05:59 AM »
I recently made a new purchase of a new Berretta Neos Inox (Inox=stainless steal model). I seached the internet long and had on reviews before the purchase. I did not want more then $250-$300 on a 22, after all its just a 22. I wanted something that was cheaper the ruger and buckmark were out of my price range even used. I wanted a accurate, usable, working gun, that I was not afraid to use or scratch, not a safe queen, like some that talk down the cheaper guns seem to require you must have or its not a real gun. I wnte to use the gun for tree rats, rabbits, coon and what ever kind of small game threat (lol) that may cross my path while setting tree stands, hunting, walking in the woods, ect.

So it came down to the S&W 22a or the Neos. I decided on the Neos because I heard of some parts that wear prematurly on the S&W.

I took it out yesterday and shot it and I was very, very happy with the performance. Accurate, no hicups, I only shot about 150 rds but no problems, and as long as I could hold it still on target it would hit it out 20-30 yrds. Very impressed. I once owned a Ruger SS target slab sided, ect,ect ect. mk2 and I liked the gun, but I believe this gun is just as accurate as that one. As stated in many reviews I dont believe the trigger is as good.

But if you are looking for a good cheap gun, dont want to pay a arm and a leg and a gun for hunting or just shooting purposes, I would NOT hesitate to recommend this gun.
I am NOT the blowhard, I got a new gun, I want to brag about it, and you need to buy what I have, because I have it type.
I am the type that wants a functional, accurate, I do my part the gun does its part, if I can get it cheaper, I will do it, and put it in the corner when done type.

Gander Mountain did not have a all black model on hand so they sold me the SS model for the same $275 price of the black one. I usually dont buy guns at Gander, usually more $ but the local gunshop was only $5 less to order me one. Gander had them on hand.

PS: I do not like the looks of the gun, but it does exactly what I wanted in a gun and does fit well in the hand.

I agree with your assessment. Keep an eye on your rear site mine will not stay put. From adjustment screw, to the roll pin, and windage adjustment, it has had to be loctite'd . It went back for the recall and they redid the roll pin, we'll see if it stays put, the rest rattled right loose again.

I've run a gang of copperwash rounds through it and even more of the waxed. It cares not what it is fed just bring plenty. ;D

When you decide to clean the bore be real careful of that protrusion. I opened my hand up slick as a razor cut first stroke out of the case before a round had even been chambered.

I have had mine a couple years. got it on Black Friday at Gander for $199. Wasn't even looking for one but had always been intrigued by Beretta's ugly "in my eyes" gun, and saw it at that price and could not pass it up. I have been wonderfully surprised by it's reliability and accuracy. Probably around 2000 rounds through it now and not so much as a hiccup. Enjoy it. Great gun for the money and so far has been as reliable as my Ruger's. My only issue with it is that it is next to impossible to find a holster to fit it.
Oh yeah, got bit by that protrusion when cleaning also. I think it is a right of passage with this gun!
