CA Tag fee increase !!!
« on: December 28, 2003, 03:35:52 PM »
Just read in Western Outdoor News that the 2004 fees are going up - get this - for residents from a book of 5 tags for roughly $9 to the new fee of $15 each !!!  Wait, it gets worse... non-res fees are going from ~$15 per tag to $50 per tag... yikes !!!  And this on top of a license that's ~ $110 for a non-res.

LouD,

First let me Welcome you to Graybeard Outdoors.

Now to your comment.  Yes it looks like everything here in Calif. is going to be going up due to a budget deficit that is just getting worse.  Many of the game wardens with little seniority are looking at getting their walking papers sometime after the beginning of the new year.  From what I understand every license - fishing, hunting, etc. - is going to go up to help offset the loss of state money.  All I see this new cost will accomplish is to keep more hunters home and increase the pouching.  Times are not looking good right now.  Lawdog

Sometimes I feel regret that I moved out of CA, most times I don't though.  It saddens me to see what is happening there.   :(

Thanks for the "Welcome"...   Yeah, we moved down the hill from Truckee almost 4 years ago to save some taxes...  Enjoy NV more than I ever thought I would, but still spend alot of time in CA.  The non-res fees are still alot less than the income tax.  But still, things are gettin' a bit extreme.
