What type of boolits does your Henry like?

I own a Henry Big Boy in .357 Mag. and have tried several different powders with 3 different types of bullets.
* 125gr. JHP Hornady XTP
* 158gr. Remington JHP
* 158gr. LSWC (hard cast)
I've tried several powders and powder charges, but I can NOT get the LSWC bullets to group as good as the jacketed bullets. While I find this a bit strange, I'm not complaining. However, it would've been nice to have a less expensive bullet option to shoot. The jacketed bullets will shoot 3 shot groups that can be completely covered with a nickel, at 25 yards.
Since the jacketed bullets are doing so well, I may try some hard cast bullets with a gas check and see how that works.
What type of boolits does your Henry shoot...and shoot well?
Thank you, Bowhunter57

I don't reload but in my .44 mag Big Boy I seem to get the tightest groups consistantly with Hornady LE ammo 240gr. JHP.

My Dads seems to shoot anything he puts in it real well. He isnt as discriminating as I am and has only been hunting one year and got a buck. The point of impact changes of course with different bullets, but they all stay together. EJ

I don't reload so only use factory ammo, but my .357 has shot everything I have fed it well. They have all been JSP and have taken 2 bucks. I have a box of the Hornady leverevolution ammo, but have not tried it yet.

I use leverrevolution exclusively in my marlin 45-70 and they group really good. Now, if Henry would just make a 45-70,,,,,,,,,,,,,

The key to shooting lead bullets is bullet/bore fit. Slug your bore and shoot bullets that are .002" larger than groove diameter. My non-Henry levergun won't shoot anything smaller than .432" with much accuracy because the groove dia. measures .431" - .432".

My 44mag likes Hornady Lever Evolution. A Henry in 45/70 is a great idea.
