223 Rem to 225Win ?
« on: February 25, 2011, 06:03:34 PM »
Anyone tried this one?
Kinda gettin tired of the ole reliable 223 an the loader in me wants to try something different, ya know?
I have another barrel here from Phatinjun a 1-9 fluted bull plus my 1-12 bull, I'm thinkin the fluted for the job.

Right now it's just in the "Kickin it around" stage, but reamers are available and there's no bore work needing to be done. I think I'd take it to my trusted smith as he's got the praticed hand.
What-ta ya think Gent's? It looks like the shoulder will cut out easy enough. Is this a possible simple re-chamber job?

225Win is the lowest capacity cartridge you can rechamber to.  Brass easily available.  Otherwise 220 Siwft.  2 good options.
Lead me not into temptation but point me to it instead.

John I did one with a fluted 1-9 that I wanted max velocity with light bullets...did not work . It did shoot heavy's 60+gr all right though. Just wasn't what I was looking for. I sold it to "Jather" he's been playing with it. If I was to do it again and wanting to push velocity I'd use the 1-12. Or try and find one of them orphan 1-14 .223 bbl's. Kurt
