Lee presses and equipment compatibility?
« on: February 23, 2011, 05:47:23 AM »
When using a Lee press and other manufacturers of dies (like RCBS)...

Will Lee single stage presses (I am using a Lee Hand Press) work with an RCBS shell holder?

Can one use a Lee shell holder with RCBS dies?

What about other makers of dies and shell holders and Lee single stage presses?

I believe some of the Dillon stuff is different, but other than that almost all of the rest interchange.

I've used RCBS dies in a Lee handpress with no problems. The thjread for reloading dies is standardized 7/8-14(except for 50 BMG)

I have used Lee shell holders with RCBS dies and have used RCBS shell holders with Lee dies--most of the time the directions tell you to screw the die down to the shell holder and adjust somewhat from there--either back off one turn or go down a quarter turn etc. That is with the shell holder at the top of the stroke of the press.

Thanks for the pointer.  I read somewhere about initially adjusting by screwing the die down to the shell holder and that is what started me wondering about using one brand of dies with a different brand of shell holder.  I'll be trying RCBS dies with the Lee shell holder initially.
