b44mag, can you post a couple photos? If so, show us what you have there? From your post seems as though you have an old field/target recurve. I had an old vintage bear polar field bow, that I recall it was 66" long and pulled 32#. Had this bow not long after I was training to shoot left hand. I eventually gave it away, but it was a very good shooting recurve bow. Good Shooting to you and your new bow! scout4<><

b44mag thats a beautiful recurve bow you have! I have a real liking for the longer recurve bows myself. For me these bows with larger risers shoot the best because of my left hand. As of now I'm shooting a Polaris recurve off the padded arrow shelf, and shoot big cedar arrows. Your vintage bear is a dandy old recurve!...Now some custom cedar arrows would go well with it!! ;) scout4<><

I get cedar arrows from Bob Adams, he's been making custom cedar arrows for many many years. I really like the big heavier arrow, so mine are 23/64" x 30" with a 145grain point. Bob always makes them the way I ask. You can check out his site. www.thearrowsmith.com   Even though I shoot the lighter draw weight recurve bow, these arrows shoot beautiful  because  the length and weight of the point gives the correct spine for my bow. scout4<><

OK no flu flu for me today we got about 8 or 10 inches of snow last night had to trade the bow for a shovel today :( but maybe next week but the forcasts not looking good. i  ordered a new string last night
Flemish 3 strand hunter green, tan and brown string with a camo serving. what does 2 or 3 bundle mean.
the add asked for the colors of string material . the color of serving. amo. draw weight. and what bundle.
so i put in the order i don't know what this means[ 2 or 3 bundle ]but you do so send me what i need .
i told him what kind of bow i was ordering this string for so i hope i get what i really need. so what is this bundle thing all about.  ??? :-[.
thanks for any and all info

The bundle is one single cord of the string. The cord as I call it, consist of strands, the strands are the single threads that make up one cord. When they say this is a 14 strand bow string it means there are 7 thread/strands in one cord which really is a bundle. So then a two bundle string will have 7 threads per bundle now put the two bundles together and you have a two bundle 14 strand bowstring. An 18 strand three bundle bowstring will have three of the cord/bundles with 6 threads, and of course can be different colors. scout4<><

so this is the pic of the strings in the add i wonder what im getting. i know from looking at charts i should get a 66AMO 14 strand if it was a normal dacron b 50 i think thats what its called. but this is 3 diff colored strings wove some how . so 3 x 4 or 5 strands per color ? i guess to make the flemish string . im sure it will be fine im just wondering .

b44mag, it has taken a very long time to be able an shoot with any kind of respectable accuracy. I am not left hand, I shoot left hand because of an injury years ago. I could have gone with a crossbow years ago if I wanted to, but this is my kind of archery. If a person wants to shoot a recurve bow or longbow with good accuracy it takes time. The nock ring as you call it, one above the arrow nock is enough, any more than that when you are shooting by hand/fingers can complicate things. scout4<><

injury's are part of life no use in letting it stop you from what you love to do . i had ripped my right shoulder muscle off the bone and pinched it in half so they sewed the muscle back together and re attached it to the bone think it was called the labram something like that all i know is it hurt and now it hurts less.  i talked to the doc and asked if it would be OK to shoot right handed and he said i will know if its OK and its OK so far just not going to over do it.

Glad you are having fun shooting. Don't get caught up in wringing speed from this bow (I don't think you will really). I unknowingly put a fastflite string on a vintage Kodiak :(  Long story short I was able to glue the limb tip laminate back on but it's never going to be right, in my mind anyway. Just make sure those carbons are heavy enough to avoid a "dry fire" like condition.

No nagging here just a tale of my own stupidity.

string works good scout but empty quiver got me thinking real hard i went to ebay and sent the guy a ? on the flemish i guess [fastflight ] string . now im wondering if i bought the wrong string like you said empty quiver i would hate to ruin this nice old bow for sure so i guess ill wait till i get a responce from the guy on ebay STILLDUB is his screen name. very nice well put together string for sure.  but if it is a fastflight b-50 3 bundle  flemish string .
MAYBE I SHOULD NOT SHOOT THIS STRING ????????????????
the add says
hand twisted from brownells dacron b-50
works great for vintage or modern recurves and longbows but not suitable for compounds or crossbows

now im second guessing this string and its nice out want to shoot a few but ill wait till i get answers

B-50 is what I would consider a traditional material, it has some stretch to it.
