Tornado damage.

My immediate area was spared but news the past couple of days has been full of tornado damage around the state. I couldn't help but notice the difference between here and new Orleans remembering all those lazy butted people sitting on their butts waiting for somebody to come in a do all the work with their hands out waiting for govt money. Around here there were all kinds of friends, family, and neighbors jumping in to help. Big difference between the folks who work for a living and the deadbeats down there. POWDERMAN.

I had a friend who worked down that way. He pretty much said the same thing. Last I talked to him he said they were sitting around.

We get our yearly allowance of tornados here in Oklahoma.
Everytime almost without exection people show up to help put the pieces back together.
Folks who got hit pick themselves up and go back about life.

I don't know what the difference is but it happens everytime.
The big May 3rd tornado that blew a big swipe out of OKC, people got out there and rebuilt and went on.
Thew Murrah building bombing that killed all those people and destroyed a big chunk of downtown, people got out there and rebuilt and went on.
Recent flooding in the metro that washed complete homes away, people got out there and rebuilt and went on.

gee guys don't ya'll know some love govt. help and others call it interference  .

Powderman, not defending N.O. but I bet you have a city in Kentucky just like it. I believe every state does but no one wants to believe it. You know the city, the one where all the welfare goes. That's where you would see the same response as in N.O. in a national disaster. It is not a locality trait but a personality trait found in persons that want to be taken care of rather than stand on their own feet.

SQUIRRELLLUCK. No doubt you are right but also believe it would depend on the part of town hit. Neighborhoods that are home to working men and women would jump right in and help each other, as I'm sure some in NO did. The neighborhoods of the drug culture, other crime and welfare will do nothing to help themselves, just wait on somebody to do it for them. Lou Ky took in a bunch from no after katrina. Crime rate took a big jump. People opened their homes to them, the mayor had activities and entertained them, arts, museums, the zoo, ball games, etc. THey still complained and wanted more. Next time it happened, Lou said, we don't want them here. Says a lot right there. POWDERMAN.

squrriellluck, not sure in Va we have a city like N.O. . I mean one who's claim to fame is decant lifestyles , prositution etc. Yes many states have those on the govt dole but even they aren't in the same class as those in N.O. with regard to shamelessness !

Shoot, I won't argue N.O. is very blatant about it. Lived in Va. once. Gotta tell you, ain't nothing in N.O. you can't find in Norfolk. Well, don't know about the welfare side of it but drugs, prostitution, and the rest could be found there when I lived there. My point wasn't about location shoot. It was about the mentality that creates the woe is me and I am entitled to govt. help and should not have to lift a finger for myself mindset. It has nothing to do with location other than big cities are easier to hide in until the crisis hits. But yes everyone who took in the help me help mes got dumped on. Wish they had not rebuilt the place myself.
