Shotgun purists look away.
«

Hi All
Well I have been sitting on doing this for a while now:
Dont worry it is over 26" overall and the barrel is over 18"
I had a few 20 gauges so I took one and made this mushroom gun.
The buttplate is made from canvas micarta. I also put an Uncle Mike's sling swivel on it.
Cant wait to shoot it.
Anyways just sharing

Modern version of the 'canoe gun'; so, still 'traditional'.

The sling looks like the one they sell for the tactical rifles, nylon 1" strap.
After looking at the gun again, I am curious about the rear sling stud. Does that put a little bruise if you are not wearing a coat?

Hi
I made the sling myself from webbing
This is not meant to be shoulder fired so the stud doesnt touch me

You did a good job on that.
I did a similar one about 20 years ago. A handy little gun for walking in the woods and removing snakes. It was fun to shoot also.
About five years ago I sold the barrel and sent the receiver to H&R for a huntsman barrel.
I will probably make another short gun again one day.

kid......
say you are just going on a hike.....
what load do you choose??
what loads do you use for different purposes
bad dogs or bad people would be my main concern
maybe a rabid coon or snake would be another concern
i think my choice would be #4 buck

Hi
I kind of planned this gun around foraging for food only.
It will be stored in my pack while I carry my bolt action Savage Scout rifle as primary
Now if I can just lose some weight so I am not just a couch commando

the forageing thing is part of the reason i said #4 over 00 or 000
6..5..4..birdshot for foraging
try foraging on week ends....the weight WILL come off
also should your fireing pin [etc] break on the savage...you have a back up gun
