scope ring height ?

  I bought a .308 bull barrel with camo synthetic stock a few days ago @ Dicks S.G. for 227.99..Ordered a Bushnell 6-18x50 trophy xlt scope for it..Anyone else use this scope on a bull barrel ? If so what rings were used..thanks ..

  I have used similar sized scopes on my ultra and forund leupold rifleman rings in med work well with the rail and the height is just right.

I have a Bushnell 4 x 12 x 40 on my 223, I had to go with a high set of rings to clear the hammer to set it where I wanted it to sit, I used a set of Weaver Grand Slam High Matte Rings and the hammer is still close, Bushnell has a large rear bell, I used a ultra scope base.

Barrel contour and large objectives are of little concern on an H&R, hammer clearance at the scope is the problem, the Banner isn't Handi friendly with the huge power ring and ocular bell, it will hit the hammer long before the objective gets close to the barrel.

I should have asked for advice before i ordered, but bushnell has been good to me,i have a 6-24x40 on my savage 17hmr and 4-12x40 on my .223 edge/axis. I honestly didnt think about hammer clearance.big oops. Thanks for everyones input, i hope i can make it work i love this gun and cant wait to shoot it with good scope.

The 308 bull barrel gun from Dick's on clearance for $229 here comes with a no name 4 - 12 scope and mounts. Did you get a scope with yours? Just asking.

yes it came with 4-12x40 and rings there wasnt anyone there to mount it so they told me they owe me a mount and bore sight job. i gave the 4-12 to my nephew for his .22 and ordered a bushnell trophy 6-18x50 and rings for the .308. i was there yesterday to get swivel studs as i needed to move factory front stud back 3/4 inch so my bi-pod would mount and i double checked to make sure they would still do scope mount with my scope and rings, they said sure no problem..Now im waiting for scope to get here..Hopefully wed. or thurs.

oh yeah this is kinda funny, I had my GF pick .308 up cuz I was out of town and i was afraid it would sell,they only had 1 in .308 and 1 in 22-250..the sales guy told her they were exclusive to D.S.G. and there wouldnt be anymore made..Now she thinks they are a rare collectors item or something and told me i better go get the 22-250 and she will pay for it..lucky me..
