Well,
It is 28 degrees out there right now.  No snow at all. :P  Imagine, a weatherman getting everyone all hyped up!
There are a few 2" icicles hanging from the roof :o
The city has been brought to its knees.  Some overpasses have ice on them and there are cars and trucks upside down everythere.  Believe me when I tell you that most people here have no idea how to drive on ice.
Lots of freeways are closed and the Mayor requested that everyone stay home from their job today and not go out. ;D
Just a while ago a newsman held up a piece of ice that he said he took off a leaf.  It was about 2" square.  He said "I just want to show everyone how bad it is out here.  This ice is about 1/8" thick."
I guess I'll "hunker in place". ;)

I know everyone is worried about me.
It looks like the Great Houston Ice Storm of 2011 is coming to an end.  The temperature is above freezing and my icicle is melting. :P
But we're okay.  We sheltered in place for several hours.  We did run out of gin and olives  :o but we still have a little food left.

Did you have to turn the electric blanket up a notch?

Was there ice on a cannon?

Is that boat pic real?  I would think that much ice could capsize or sink that boat.

Looks like the weather is warming up.

Too funny...
I'm a couple of Zip Codes North of him.....
Last Sunday, I was working in my driveway, wearing a 'T' shirt, & the thinnest long pants I own-
welding the frame together on a 20' gate for my neighbor.
I had to stop every few minutes and wipe the sweat tracks from inside my welding hood.
Then,,,,, this week- we had our 4-5 days of "Texas Winter"
Now its gone.  All of a sudden,,,,,,, here we are in the first few days of Feb. 2011.
5,,, well, honestly its 6 days later.
Me & probably Zulu too, are back to wandering around outside in 'T' shirts....

We have 6-8 days between wearing short pants (all year) & feeling like-The "Michilean Man" in a heavyWinter coat,,,,,

Don't that make all you Yankee so-and-sos want to drive down here and konk him on the head with
your well worn snow shovel?

Having lived in  Texas-Houston, Seguin and El Paso there is nothing down there that makes me want to go back. Well maybe one more hunting trip into the Davis mountains for Aoudad  and quick trip, very quick   to the King ranch for Nilgai,  Weather wise the western part of the state is much more tolerable than the east.

The first of March we are headed to Vicksburg to see the 42 PDR's.  We are going around Texas. We will spend a day or two in  Vicksburg depending on Humidity then move on to Granddaughters in Maryland.  We we will head back west right after the  IMA shoot in April.

;D  We had abreak in the weather today up here in Maine and the mercury(yes I still have a mercury thermometer) went up to the mid 30's. I put on a set of snowshoes and went out to get the roof rake for the snow on the roof. Lost a snow shoe half way thru the proceedure and darn near broke a leg. I was able to get the top 2 feet of snow off but hit an ice layer at the last foot, must have been that storm on the 25th of last month. Aruond back of the house I did't need the snowshoes as it's all ice. The sun doesn't shine back there.

Oh well, black fly season is just around the corner after mud season, can't wait for the crowining of the Miss Blackfly Queen at the pagent.
