M1 Carbine Kits??
« on: March 17, 2011, 05:07:49 PM »
Does anyone know who sell M1 Carbine parts kits, less receiver? I bought one of the CMP receivers and want to build it out.  It came as a barreled receiver, the barrel was shot out but the receiver is in excellent condition. I am really surprised at the condition.  I am just interested in a shooter nothing fancy.

Most, if not all, of the M1 Carbine kits disappeared about two years ago.  The CMP flooded the markets with new carbines, and kindled a new generation of "carbine collectors" who quickly learned that they could buy carbine kits, sell the desireable parts for about 3X what the kit cost.  There were a bunch of companies that bought kits, and parted them out as well.  With stocks bringing $150+, bolts commanding $100+, barrels bringing $150+, and trigger housings holding steady at $75+, not including small parts (recoil springs, operating slides, etc.) you could pay $400 for a kit, and quickly turn $500-$600.
