Redhawk 5.5 " ?
« on: November 09, 2010, 10:56:10 PM »
I recently picked up a really nice one but was just wondering, are they still making the stainless .44 Mag Redhawk with a 51/2" barrel and if not when was the last year of production ?

Didn't Ruger also offer the stainless Redhawk in 45 Colt with a 5.5" barrel at one time ?

IMHO it just fells like the perfect barrel length for balance and ease of carry.

I've got a 5.5" stainless .45 Colt Redhawk; no idea when they last made them, or if they still do.  Unfortunately, it's 1/2" too short for legal hunting in Maryland, where I live.

I have a 5.5 Stainless Redhawk in the 45 Colt.  It hadn't even hit the display case yet when I walked in the door.  Owner knew I was looking for one, paid 425 for it and it looked brand new at the time.  DP

Sorry, don't know the answer to all the questions, but do know it is one great and tufffff gun.

Mine, also a 5.5" stainless version shoots it regular diet of 310gr LBT/WRN cast boolits ahead of 19grs of AA#9 to a velocity of just over 1300fps.

I pack it in a left side, butt forward holster which allows for quick access that rides well in the rig or on the 4wheeler.

The holster rides high and the butt is canted forward.

Keep em coming!

Ruger is still are building 5.5" Redhawks.  In stainless only though.  I bought one in 44 magnum early in July of this year after a long search.  Ordered it from a distributor in Anchorage Alaska through my local FFL.  Shipping cost to Louisiana was about $80.00, and I paid top dollar for the gun on top of that, but I got what I was looking for.  I was happy that I was able to find one.

Ruger 5.5" are only available in 44 Mag at this time, I believe the 45 Colt was discontinued in 2004 and is now only available in the 4" version.  Does anyone know if the 41 Mag was ever available in a 5.5" ?

It is a SWEET shooter.  Here it is along side my .41 Blackhawk 6.5"
