Memorial Day
« on: May 30, 2011, 02:05:25 AM »
It is Memorial Day and I am remembering all of those boys, girls, young adults all, Moms, Dads, Brothers, Sisters, Aunts, and Uncles, Men and Women of the Armed Forces that are not with us today as they Gave All to protect our right to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness.

I am remembering my Father and my Grandfathers.  All are gone now but each served honorably, proudly, and lived long and fruitful lives thanks to those with whom they served and those who paid the ultimate price for our continued Freedom.

I am remembering classmates and Vietnam.

I am remembering fellow Coast Guardsmen on the Buoy Tender Blackthorn.

I am remembering the faces of my son's fellow Marines whose lives were spent in the sands of Baghdad.

I am remembering that Freedom isn't free.

Well said. I was choked up at the sound of Taps played at the cemetery this morning remembering those who gave all.
"Necessity is the plea for every infringement of human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves."

---- William Pitt (the Younger), Speech in the House of Commons, November 18, 1783
