Has anyone have any experiences using 50-60 grain subsonics in a DA 22lr?

Thanks for all the input--
I have moved this question to rimfire handguns where it probably should have been in the first place

Revolver or semi-auto? Revolver would be fine. SA no. I would stick to hyper-velocity.

Ive tried the Aguila SSS, 60gr in sgl and dbl actions and they loose accuracy at distance due to low velo and understabilization, but for practical handgun, iron sight ranges they carry a lot more thwack and didnt group badly out to 30ish yards or so. They may not shoot to your sights but once you learn the hold its no different that 38Spl in a mag sighted gun.
If I didnt have my 38Spl walk-about I would load up the .22 with 'em.

60 grainers have trouble in most barrels whether pistol or rifle. I do run 40 gr exclusively and have great results in everything including s&w da. The only two things I have that will shoot the 60 gr accurately are a 1-9 AR and a 1-9 10-22.

The 60 grainers need a fast twist to stabilize them.  It might be worth while to have a revolver custom barreled to shoot them.  Not sure what niche that would fill, but that just means I don't know.  It could really be just the thing for what you need.

Try them in yours to see what the limits are for your purpose. I figure if they hit close to where I want and have 50% more weight for penetration that they would take a woodchuck or take out a feral critter (4 or 2 legged). Maybe with the instability they will tumble and that should dump all the energy too. I understand the old, heavy, slow British handgun cartridges did the same thing.

Out of a rifle they do 24" of penetration in ballistic gelatin. Don't know about 2 legged critters but a lot of wildlife control agencies kill deer with them. Personally I have taken groundhogs. But that is as big as I want to try. BTW straight through and through on head shots.

Have you chrono'ed any of the Agulia SSS in your fast twist barrels that stabilize them to see how consistent they are. Ive speculated on getting one of those adapters for a 223 fast twist H&R Handi or building a 22LR chambered fast twist barrel rifle but if the ammo is not consistent it wouldnt be worth the expense.
