« on: March 15, 2011, 04:59:03 AM »
Ive got a Winny Ranger 30/30 and would like to put a peep sight on.Ive been looking at the williams fp series.Ive noticed my gun doesnt have the holes on the side of my receiver. What model number fp series should I get? Thanks. Also will the factory front site be tall enough. Its dovetailed to the barrel,no ramp and I think it was .575 tall.

It sounds like your Ranger is a Model 94AE (angle eject), that's drilled/tapped on top for scope mounts.

The Williams 5D-94AE or the Foolproof FP-94AE will mount in the two rear scope mount holes, and readily zero using the issue height front sight.

Don't forget to remove the rear barrel sight for a clean sight picture, and either order a commercial slot filler blank of file one up (make one) out of the dovetail portion of some old longleaf rear sight.

Maybe look at the Skinner Sights, if he doesnt have one specifically for it there is a chance he will make you one. Way classier than the Williams.

You can call Williams and they will tell you what is needed . They are very helpful.   :)
