Pillar Bedding - Easy Fix
« on: April 05, 2011, 04:08:42 PM »
Came across these at Grainger supply and I am certain they will be great to use for easy simple pillar bedding in Encore fore arms. Aluminum spacers or even SS spacers, pre-drilled for #8 screw (Encore stock screws are 8x40), 3/8" diameter and 1/2" long at $5.97 for package of 10. You can get all sorts of variations if you want to go longer or larger diameter. I found some SS spacers on sale for 4.13 for package of 10. Guess what I am doing this week? My thoughts would be to put a #8 screw up through fore end, put spacer over screw, line up a Forster bit in drill press to be true to spacer, drop out screw and spacer, drill to desired depth to allow smidgen of free float and I think you will have a great set up that is permanent and darn nice. I plan on etching sides of spacer and inside the drilled hole for some accuglass and should be great hold for pillar. Have fun!

I think they worked out quite well and very easy to install. I notched the spacers with my Dremel and notched the inside of the fore end area as well for epoxy to bite on both. Seems to be just right on MGM .500 S&W barrel.
