M92 reliability, ability to shoot cast
« on: March 20, 2011, 05:18:35 AM »
I've read lots on here about the M92 Rossi and most everyone seems to have gotten good ones. I'm looking for a 44 magnum levergun that will shoot cast reliably and be my all around gun for everything. I'll be using Lee 6 cavity tumble lube molds so I can just cast, water drop, lube, load and shoot without sizing. Does anyone shoot the Lee 44 mag 240 grain tumble lube swc? Would you consider the M92 a gun that you would use as your longterm self defense weapon? Thanks for the replies?

Out of 6 of em, the only problem I have had is with a broken butt-stock on my 44.  Got it used and it's old enough it doesn't have  the goofey safety on the bolt.  My little 357 trapper is rough to feed some bullet profiles, others it feeds fine.  It hasn't been shot much, I think it will smooth out with use.  The 2 454's will run 45 colt rounds with SWC's fine as will my 44 mag.  They are the only ones I have run cast through.  One of the 454's is a stainless trapper and would make a good choice for a cabin or house rifle for bears, ect.  The 44 mag would be a better choice for ammo availability.  DP

Thanks DPE, have you ever shot the Lee 240 gr tumble lube SWC? How many rounds would you estimate you have shot through your guns?

That's not one I have run threw any of em.  The 44 mag has had the most run threw it, maybe a thousand since I've had it.  If you want to learn more about the M92, check out a gentleman by the name Steve ?.  For the life of me I can't think of his full name or web site right now.   :o :-[
CRS, get thee away from meeee!!!  Steve'sGunz.com., I think.  DP

I shoot the lee 240 LSWC/HP from mine it shoots great. And as far as a self defence weapon it will do anything you ask of it except for maybe the the big bears.
an unloaded wepon is equal to the same mass and volume as a rock.
