This was after an 8 yr old asked her parents what it was. They thought the schools were saying it daily. POWDERMAN.

The pledge of allegience should never have been removed from school. The removal of it causes a lack of patriotism. The lack of patriotism causes a lack of national honor. The lack of national honor leads to a lack of personal honor. This is what happens when you let the "feel good " crowd in. I wish we could get back to a few of the old ways. Prayer in school is fine, if you don't believe in God sit quietly and enjoy the break. If you believe in God ask for help with the test scores. It's a win-win.

SHU. Definitely agree Sir. We had prayers in school when I was a kid. Every day started with the pledge of allegience, as well as before ball games. Prayer was said by a teacher to bless our meals too. YEP, taking God out of America has caused nothing but trouble. Removing God from America produced liberals and we can all see where that has gotten us. POWDERMAN.

It may have been patriotic to remove the pledge. Consider the government scandals from coast to coast and the stupid wars the country is engaged in. The only flag I'd have any allegiance to says Don't Tread On Me.

It looks like I stand corrected. I always assumed it was something that came from the government, just like little german kids dressing up in brown uniforms and praising nazi-ism. However, after reading the history of the pledge, I have changed my mind.

It really originated from the people and has a rather colorful history of court challenges and amendments that were calculated to keep the government at bay.

Really what is so offensive about saying the pledge of allegience every morning. I can not find anything objectionable with it. Please take me to school as to what is wrong about it.

If saying the Pledge of Allegience offends someone tuff!! Go to another country. When you see a vetern rise up out of his wheel chair to salute the flag as it goes by in a parade you can see the honor, love and pride in his eyes, sometimes the tears. Those that have served know more than anyone the cost to keep our Flag flying and all it stands for.Thank You Veterns for my freedoms and my right and honor to say The Pledge of Allegience.

I can think of nothing offensive about pledging oneself to a great country such as America. Imagine how many legal immigrants take the citizenship test to get away from an oppresive govenrment. How many Americans can actually tell you what the Bill of Rights is and each ammendment of it. In my opinion a citizen has no problem pledging and knows the Bill of Rights. There have been too many good men and women who have given their lives in support of these ideals, really is it to much to ask to put your hand over your heart and recite the Pledge?

Our local Country radio station hosts the Pledge of Allegiance where school kids from around the listening area recite the Pledge and they broadcast it over the Air. !!!!! Love it.

The thing that gets me the most is I remember a sports star (from an African country I believe) who refused to stand for the National Anthem at the beginning of the game. I just thought to myself (if I had been in his country I would have stood for his Anthem just out of respect for my hosts.) I would have stood and probably sang the star spangled banner to myself. We are paying this Jerk untold millions to play a stupid game , giving him an opportunity for a better life than he ever would have received where he came from, and the ungrateful b!@#R cannot even stand for Our National anthem. They should have fired him and shipped him back where he came from.

And I understand (yes I am a hypocrite here) , There are those of us who have fought, and those who have died, so others can voice their protest and "Burn our flag" as it is supposedly their right to do so.... But I gotta tell ya... If they do it in front of me I'm gonna knock 'em on their butt and face the consequences in court later.

It's called respect respect for what the flag symbolizes , respect for those who gave the ultimate sacrifice,
just so some wet nosed snotty kid can "supposedly be in his right to burn it".

Makes me sick. - sorry just had to get that off my chest.

I have to agree it is your right to burn my flag, it is also my right to knock you out. I would let the cops decide who to arrest. A lot are former military who would just log it as mutual combat and go on about other buisness. I would take my chances in front of the judge on this one.

If you do not like the country you live in change it. If you don't think you can do that find a new country. Election time will be coming up again, so vote it is not your privilage it is your right and it needs to be exercised. Privilages can be taken away rights cannot.

SHU. When I wa a kid in grade school we would have it played before our basketball games. The principal would carry an old record player to the floor and EVERYBODY there stood with hand over heart as that old record played our National Anthem, scratchy and all. There were no pantywetters back then, if there were, they kept their big mouths shut. Times were much better, legal and the law were on the same page, not even in the same book anymore. Right and wrong meant something too. Folks loved their country and showed respect, unlike some today. POWDERMAN.

Our local race track, which has an oval dirt track and a stadium capicity of about 100 people starts the evening races with the National Anthem and a prayer for the safety of the drivers. Everyone stands, removes ball caps etc and sings the National Anthem. Even the athiest in the crowd bows his head when the prayer begins. It is done out of respect.
