I just started with trail boss I called Hodgdons and talked to a tec and he told me how to use it. I was loading for a 444 marlin in a contender barrel 44mag re chamber and I started with 13 grns and a 240 grain bullet, not cast, shoots great very little blast and recoil. Now I am using it in my Marlin 1895 45-70 with a speer 300 grn hollow point and 17 grns TB. Using the info on their web site on how to figure your max load, 20.3 grns would be your max load or at least it is on the bullet that i am using, your bullet may seat deeper in order to get your overall length, all that has to be taken into account when you are using this powder. I use a 502 RCBS scales and I check it before I start to make sure it is balanced and I weigh every load, I just dont trust a powder charger a little slow but I am not in a hurry.
I find very little recoil with this load. If your load kicks like a mule, check your over all lenth and your scales. I have tried several diff cal. with TB an they are all mild on recoil. Oh by the way on my contender hand gun super 14 barrel rechamber to 444 marlin I am using a 240 grn bullet with 14 grns TB and I find the recoil about like a 44 special.
