Savage Striker rimfire
« on: May 08, 2011, 08:45:11 PM »
Does anyone have a Striker in rimfire? I have two, a 22LR and 22Mag. I have inexpensive(read cheap) 2X scopes on them and have found them to be accurate and fun to shoot. I installed swivel studs on the forearms and use a bipod when shooting. I feel that the limiting factor, other than me, is the triggers. Can they be "slicked up" by the average guy or is an aftermarket trigger in order? Any hints or experiences will be appreciated.

If they have the same trigger as the Savage rimfire rifles there is a trigger job that the Rimfire Central folks use that involves making a shim out of soda can aluminum.  What it does is reduce the amount of contact area in the sear, and I chose not to do that.  I put in a Rifle Basics  trigger in my Savage rifle.  It was about $75, and well worth it.

Thanks for the replies. If I survive moving across the state, I will look into the rifle basix trigger.

I had one of these, it had the rifle basix trigger, it was extremely accurate! the trigger broke crisply at around 12 oz.
I sold it because i had no practical use for it. but it sure was a a tack driver!
