Wow..
With a couple of those you could make replicas of what was in the movie, "The Guns of Navarone".

And hey,,, depending on who ya are, and where you live-
You & your neighbors might actually need them to defend yourself from the British Fleet........

I doubt we shall ever see their likes again".

Any idea what the bore diameter is?  Also, what are the demill requirements?

And it looks like you would have to have a railroad spur onto your property to be able to move these things.

George, I looked at all the pics, looks like 16 inchers...maybe? 234,000 pounds each, +/-, 3,600,000 pounds for the lot, with a bid of $505,000.00, I think...roughly $7.00 per pound, what a bargain! So, what are you going to use to cut these babies up with, in 30 days, and get them moved and all your debris cleaned up! WOW! Good Luck with that! BoomLover

Yeah, definitiely 16" if you look at all the pix.

If they were 3" or even 5" barrels, I might be interested but not 16".  Too big even for an 1890 12" mortar.  And too heavy in any event.

500 grand for 3.6 million pounds is only about 14 cents a pound, well below the scrap market these days.  But you have to figure in all your myriad expenses.  Be interesting to see what the final bid is.

Demil is by cutting. There are 9 red chalk lines on the length of the barrels and 3 more lines in the breech. I would imagine those are the place to be cut.  Current bid is $510,000. First bid was $150. I think I'll save my money.

I think you did your division backwards.  7 pounds per dollar would be about correct.  Basically the same as .14 dollars per pound.

No biggie.

Those 16-inch Mark 7's were the biggest U.S. Navy battleship guns used in WWII, and we're probably never going to see the like of them again. This link shows some photos and descriptions of the projos they fired, along with some other fine links contained in the article. The photo of the USS Iowa firing a broadside is one of my favorite artillery pics; imagine the concussive force it took to form those concavities on the ocean's surface. I know that these guns are a little outside the intended scope of our discussions, but just look what Mons Meg led to. ;)

Well they were blackpowder. It's a shame they will be cut up for scrap. I'd love to see even just the tubes on display.
