My daughter, Janet, is 36 and has never shot a gun--until today.
I had bought her a .327mag at her request--because of where she works. Then she became pregnant and that slowed the program down.
Today we went out to the range I belong to.
I gave her the basics in safety--this was a refresher.
I loaded the K-22 and she cup and saucered it from a bench. The first cylinder was pretty erratic. I went thru some dry fire drill and talked about the pumpkin on the post.
She reloaded and low and behold began to get the rang--no flinching---even hit the pie plate two times.
She was whooping and hollering--having a ball.
We shot that probably  24 rounds.
Then I gave her the .327mag. She shot it once and laid the pistol down and said--what the hell--laughing all the time. Then we talked about it and she calmed.
She shot this and another .327 at least 6 cylinders full.
I pulled out the model 28 .357 and asked did she want to shoot it.. Sure, she said.
All this time, no fear, just getting use to the bounce of the .327.
She shot dang near a full box of full house .357's and was danged impressive---hitting the pie plate numerous times and all around it very effectively.
She likes the .357 more than the .327---it doesn't bounce and is heavier--which she likes a lot.
She wants the .357---dang it all.

Congrats, and she is moving up in caliber already too, thats really cool too.  My first love is still the 357mag with the 6" barrel.  I do regret selling my older colt python.   CZY

Good story!!

I remember one day I had a couple as clients and when I do this I like to have my wife join us during the classroom and range session. I think it helps the woman feel a little more at ease as I find many feel out of there element and likely are convinced to take the class by their partners.
 Anyhow it was the woman who really need the training and trigger time so after the husband shot a bit I took a little more time with his wife and he went to watch my wife shoot. After about half an hour I began to notice the husband made a couple trips to the range ammo box for more ammo. My wife was having a good time showing up a couple guys at adjacent benches. She was shooting my S. black hawk. She shot up all the 44Spl's and had moved on to the mags. She was repeatedly hitting the gong on the hill at 150-60 yards, while the guys beside here could not reliably do it with a rifle!!  I was proud of my wife as before she met me she new nothing about firearms. Her dad was a Navy man and a hunter, but try as he might he had 6 girls...  In those days, girls and guns didn't often mix.
  It's amazing to see someone shoot a caliber like the 44 mag when they haven't been bombarded for years and years with all the hype about how a caliber recoils, kicks and punishes the shooter... Simply goes to show its mostly in the shooters head.

More extended BIG GRINS today.
This morning when she brougt our grandson over--they live about a mile from us and we keep the baby during the day--I know--tough duty  --she informed me that I was correct that she could carry a gun onto the parking lot of her school.
She talks to the cops there and they have been encouring her to get her CCW.
They told her they had better things to do than search teachers cars for weapons---which was legal in the first place.
