lost my first arrow today
« on: March 16, 2011, 04:36:56 PM »
was at my buddys today letting them fly for a while . from the bearcat still no pattern but hitting the block target at 20 yards. still loving this bow ;D
there was a bale of hay about 60 yards away left one go hit the ground about 10 feet in front of it. so i adjusted and left another go and it disappeared under the bale . i rolled it over no arrow dug a trench few times across where the arrow went in  nothing . $8.50 st epic in the field oh well they make new arrows every day right . was doing good till i tried the bale just to see if i could hit it no more of that. now that im typing this maybe ill go back up and check few extra feet behind the bale . i did check a few feet behind but think it just hit a soft spot and dug in deep.  when i rolled the bale over there where moles scurrying around . the 2117s flew ok at 33 1/4 125 tip . st epic 600s at 30 1/2 100 tip flew good also;D. was not sure if they would but they did had 3 now 2 ;). my tip protector, selway stringer and wax came in today. boy the stringer works great the one i have was just the 2 leather pockets. kept slidding down over the string groove  >:( this one has the rubber block it works great . the heat fit tip fit great. its a rubber string through saunders brand still rested it on my boot ;).
all in all great day in the field.

Check a good 25-30 yard behind your target,  even at that range it amazes me how far these things can barrow and go.  When i loose one I alway fan out from the back of my target, so the farther i go back the longer I walk back and forth,  kinda would look like a triangle grid pattern.  Also wearing some light soled shoes can help,  I have found a couple arrows when I stepped on them will gridding.

I've slid my fair share under the grass.  Try to remember exactly where you were standing and where you think your arrow went under.  Mark the spot where you were standing and walk the straight line behind the bail.  The arrows typically don't stray too far left or right.

Good luck,

Typically yes, but I have found some 5-10ft left or right of target,  was worse shooting hay bales after they had started to break down and didn't stop very well.  Ive only lost 4 arrows in six years of shooting, and 2 of them were  hunting.
