Bought my first Handi today
« on: March 22, 2011, 08:16:48 PM »
Bought my first handi-rifle today.  Ordered it last week at Walmart, $255 bucks.  I wanted a .308 but they were out of stock so I ordered a 7mm08.  Also, I just registered on GBO tonight.  I have been reading post for a little while and everyone's comments made me want to buy one.  Thanks.

Congratulations, and Welcome.

You have both a new rifle, and new friends to talk about it with.  Oh and a new addiction.  Those darned single shots are just accurate enough to tease you into shooting more to try for a better group, and since they are durable and powerful you'll be hooked before you realize it. ;)

Tracyj, welcome.  You'll meet lots of great people here.  I think you'll like the 7mm-08.  It is a very useful caliber.....anything from coyotes to elk.  I have the seven and it is a shooter.  It seems to enjoy 140 gr. bullets.

Good luck with it, and let us know how it works out.

Hey gcrank, there's never too many,  The only limiting factor should be storage space.

In my humble opinion, after a lot of thought, I consider the 7mm-08 one of the three essential Handi centerfire calibers if we were allowed only three. The other two are 223 Rem and 358 Win. Congratulations Tracyj.

My experience, put a rubber O-ring under the forearm and start shooting it.  The more you shoot it, (No more than three shots at a time) the better it gets.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.
