H&R Ultra Slug Hunter wood vs laminated stock
« on: March 24, 2011, 11:07:31 AM »
Howdy,

I'm trying to decide between the walnut-stained regular USH and the Deluxe.   :-\  As far as I can tell the only difference is in the stock material.  Does the Deluxe also have checkered patterning for the grips?  Is the Deluxe good enough to justify the $50 or so difference?

Thanks!

Welcome!  ;) The deluxe has a checkered resin laminated stock, the standard is smooth walnut stained hardwood.

It is basically just a "looks" thing. To me, it is worth $50 more.  :)

Thanks!  I think....   :-\  I was hoping someone would say something like "Oh, absolutely get the laminate, as it is known to be 1,000 times more durable and 100,000 times more accurate".  How am I supposed to go to my wife with this info and justify the extra money??  ;)

That's true for the laminates, they're more stable in inclement weather too, so lay it on her! But they're also heavier, the heaviest stock H&R offers.  ;)

At first, as a traditional 'walnut' guy, I didnt care for lam's, now I do. They weigh a bit more which all helps with slug guns (any heavy kicker), so unless you are looking for the lightest stock set so you can get your bell rung, get the lam's.
