I can't believe I did it
« on: March 26, 2011, 07:16:02 AM »
I said "I'll take it" for a 45-70 barrel.  I don't have reloading stuff, no ammo and no spare receiver.  I swore I wouldn't pay so much for another barrel ever.  Ten seconds after I saw the post I was typing a response.  Is there an anonymous group for us?  Oh well, maybe it will fit my 243 receiver...

rd,

The slope on Mt. Handi is very slippery.  Once you start sliding there is no stopping.  Enjoy your fall down the mountain. ;D

Congratulations on your 45-70 barrel, you are going to love it. The 45-70 has long been considered a must have in Handis, the Flagship of the fleet. As far as reloading just pick up an inexpensive Lee Loader for it for about $20-$25 and you will have fun with it for years, and you can load it anywhere..Grab on and hold on tight buddy, you are about to head out on a fun filled ride....<><....:)

I've had 7 or 8 of 'em and every one has been a good shooter. It seems like I go through 45-70 phases. I get one, shoot it for a while, sell it, miss it and get another one. ;D It's a viscious cycle I tell ya. One of these days I'll smarten up and keep one whether I shoot it or not. ;)

LOL I have the same problem with Contender stuff, sometimes I just have to back slowly away from the computer.  GBO classifieds has put a serious dent in my recreational budget!  I always figure if i don't like it I can just sell it, but i never sell it.  I think I need a support group too.

I wound up with 2 45-70's on the same day. Bought one off the classifieds here on GBO and traded a 223 for one locally. The one from the classifieds arrived at my FFL the same day I traded for the other one.

Your going to love that 45-70,especialy once you start re-loading for it. I have some nice mild target loads, some excellent deer hunting loads, and some loads  that would make the dinasauers run and hide. But I don't shoot them much. TOO NOISEY !  LoL !
