Here are a few pics of a cannon carriage I recently finished.  It's walnut and it turned out pretty good.

I know it looks bigger but that carriage is only 7 1/2" long.  The barrel is 11" long.  I am getting ready to build one for a 200 lb. barrel that is 37" long.

  Looks good.  What kind of wood were the majority of the origional carriages made from?
