I never really understood the clear caps. We spend 500.00 on a Multi coat lense I dont believe we shoot through 2 7.95 pieces of plastic?

I do want covers to protect my lenses, but not in the field. I often use those soft plastic endcaps found on some plastic tubes, metal pipe, and machinist tooling. The commercial caps Ive messed with were chinzy. For bush use Id probably make one out of a motorcycle innertube.

I refuse to use any cover except the Bikini covers and I think Butler Creek makes them. In my opinion they are to protect the lens when the gun is not in use and in use I don't want anything on there. Any time I buy a used gun with the flip up covers I take them off and toss them in the trash. They are the silliest and ugliest thing you can do to a scope.

Each to their own but I use Butler Creek covers.  Keep them closed until you know you're going to shoot and your lens won't be fogged of smeared with water.
