Personally I won't use any of the racks for anything but rakes and shovels.  The stuff I ride through gets thick at times and I'm not willing to foul up a high dollar gun if I don't have to.  Usually I use a padded soft side case and strap it across the bags on the back of my ride.  Short barreled ARs and my Marlin 444p are ideal for this.  Some guys like the cases offered by Outers, Big Dog and others, that are designed specifically for atv use but again I'm not a fan.

As for GPS I use an Etrek Legend in a mount that attaches to the front rack and I've only used it a few times and then just to check speed or distance traveled.  You know you've run a good trail when your odometer registers over 3 times the distance your GPS shows at the end of the day.   ;D

Not much help Huh?   ::)

I use a Koplin gun boot scabbard with the plastic base that bolts onto the rear rack with the scabbard on the right side.  A scabbard provides the most protection to a firearm.

I also use a koplin gun boot on my atv.  I have a milk crate mounted on the front rack and the gun boot mounted between that and the handlebars right in front of me.  Its handy and I can keep an eye on it should I need to pass through brush or low hanging branches.

I have a Koplin and it worked just fine, but I can also put my rifle across my shoulder for the short trips I normally take.  The Koplin boot makes a darn nice airline case, and I prefer it to any other model I've ever owned for shipping a scoped rifle.
Never taken my ATV anywhere that I needed a GPS on it.  I have needed a GPS to find my ATV however.  When dragging a deer, it is very helpful to know the shortest route back to the ATV when the woods is too thick to take the ATV to the deer (normally the case in Eastern NC).
An older fellow no longer in my club, had every accessory imaginable on his ATV.  He had so much crap on the front and rear that there was no way to put a deer on it, which is the reason he owned it to start with.  He looked more like a soldier than a hunter.  Victim of too many mail order magazines.
