If you were going to get a 41, which would you choose - an FA83 or have one made for you by Dave Clements?

If i could order anything i wanted from dave no buget limits or at least have to spend what the FA will cost id go with Dave just because i know it would end up being a prettier gun. Not nessisarily a better gun as you have to go real far to get a better fit and finished gun then an out of the box FA gun and if i had to make a wager on accuracy Id go with the FA not because the clemments wouldnt shoot as well but because i know the FA gun would.

Personally I'd go with the FA. No matter how much you spend on a Ruger reworked by any custom smith when all is said and done you still have a Ruger. Buy the FA and you have the best factory/semi custom gun money can buy. That's the way I look at it.

FA or a reworked Ruger

I have a Freedom Arms 454 Casull. I have shot it some but not a lot.
The model 83 in a 41 magnum is on top of my want list. I bought mine used for about $950. They do a lot of special stuff like line- boaring , the barrells are polished and then the rifling is etched by acid so there are no burs in the barrel. The trigger is great...I have only hit the highlights that I can remember.

Sent a single six off to David to have a run at it.  He's going to make two cylinders, match grade 22lr, and a magnum.  He'll put aMatch grade bull bbl. on it. The gun will be line bored.  Getting an action job, belt mtn base pin and Bowen rough country sights along with a finer front sight than factory.

Cost will be about $700.00  less than a comparable FA.  When I asked David if it will shoot as well as an FA, his response was..."definitely".  We'll see in a few months.
