Encore Hammer extension?
« on: December 04, 2003, 05:23:46 AM »
I have an encore 209x45 and love it with 1 Xception. I have a Nikon 3x9x40 Monarch scope on it and I can't cock the hammer from the top because the scope is in the way. I can just barely get my thumb between the hammer and the scope. The only way I can cock the hammer is from the side. I will not use raised mounts so I'm looking to purchase an extension. Any recomendations as to where to find one? Thanks in advance. :?

I would go to Mike Bellms web site and purchase one from him. The main thing is to not purchase one made of steel or stainless steel they are to heavy and some have caused the hammer to break. Be sure when you purchase one that it is aluminum. :D

I'll second the motion.  Mike Bellm's hammer extension is the way to go.  His doesn't come loose, fits either side of the hammer, and is nicely finished.  You can get several different grades.  I bought one of his "seconds" and it has better knurling than other manufacturer's top of the line models.  Just remember to add lock-tite to the set screw.

I bought a stainless one off of Ebay, but never used it after reading some posts on this site.

Instead, I bought an aluminum one from Virgin Valley.  My encore has never been fired without it, and it has performed just as expected.

Seems like some thing is blocking the link to Mike Bellms. Do a search. I ordered a hammer extention from him last week

The mailman delivered my hammer extention from Mike Bellm this morning. Much better design than the old Uncle Mikes that I scavanged off my Contender.

It took all of about 20 seconds to install with the allen wrench supplied in the package.

Nice piece worth the money.
