Ruger #1 in 9.3 x 74

Has anyone here purchased one of these rifles.
If so, how do you like the rifle for this caliber ?
I have about 10 boxes of 9.3x74 ammo, and need a rifle to go with it.

I agree with Drilling Man.  I had the choice of a 9.3 and a 35Whelen and went with the Whelen because it was lighter.  A buddy has one...I may "acquire" it!!!  (Only kidd'n Griz  )

Yes I have one, bought it last summer. Put a Nikon African on it 1-4X, with the German #3 reticle. A perfect match I must say. I believe the No.1-S is the perfect rifle for this cartridge. I like the Alex Henry forearm, looks like it belongs in the african game fields of yore. I like the accuracy, with my particular rifle, anyway. Handloaded 286 hornady's fly straight and true. I just got done doing some cast bullet loading/shooting with it, and can, if I wanted, stop right now, as I have found perfection, BUT, I just need to try some more different  powder combo's, just me I guess.
   One complaint on the manufacturer is in order though. My particular rifle has the rib screwed on at an angle. After lapping the rings and mounting the scope, then centering the adjustments, looking through, it was pointing way right. Looking at the rib you can see it. I may or may not send it back, I don't know just yet, kind of sucks though. I guess they were in a hurry to start there weekend. CRASH87

I already had a Tikka T3 in 9.3x62 so I went the No.1H in 450/400 N.E. 3" instead.
Lovely rifles.
The advantage of the No.1 is that you can push the pressure up and obtain 9.3x64 performance.......if you can take the punishment.
The '74R is limited to about 45,000 CUP with doubles because they're break action but in a falling block the sky, or rather, the brass is the limit.
But to be truthful the standard performance of the 9.3x74R is enough for anything in the Americas so perhaps you should look around and see if you can find a double.

I got mine three years ago.  It is a very good rifle for wild hogs.  I installed a Leupold 2.5X scope with Conetrol rings and base.  The Conetrol system that replaced the Ruger quarter rib is expensive and a bit of a puzzle to install but I think is the best scope mounting system for the Ruger No.1.  The Conetrol system has windage adjustment in both rings and the scope will not slip from recoil.
